Interactions between China, Mongolia and the steppe 2000-0 BCE
Gaétan Tressieres
PhD Student
“This project is coupled with archaeology, a domain that I’ve followed since childhood. I remember being fascinated by dinosaurs, the archaeological study of them and, of course, the Jurassic Park movies."
Gaétan Tressieres is a DNA analyst
Gaétan Tressieres is a DNA analyst at Ludovic Orlando’s laboratory at the Centre for Anthropobiology and Genomics of Toulouse (CAGT).
After a master’s degree in plant biology, he joined the team as a technician in 2021, working on the genetics of horses. After two years, he began his PhD research as part of the ERC-funded Horsepower project. He’s been extracting and analysing samples of DNA gathered from ancient horse skulls excavated in Mongolia, and he’s looking forward to studying horse samples from China.
