Saltanat Amir

Saltanat Amir specialises in archaeometallurgy and goldsmithing technologies

Saltanat Amir is a postdoctoral researcher at the British Museum and a member of the metals research team on the HorsePower project. She obtained her PhD in Archaeology from the University of Cambridge, where she was a Harding Distinguished Postgraduate Scholar.

Originally from Kazakhstan, her primary academic focus is the archaeology of the Eurasian Steppe civilizations and Central Asia, with particular emphasis on archaeometallurgy and goldsmithing technologies. In 2021, she served as a Project Curator for the 5-star exhibition "Gold of the Great Steppe," organized by the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge in collaboration with the Oskemen Museum of Local History, Kazakhstan. In addition to her PhD degree in Archaeology, she also holds an MA degree in Economics.
